TRYHARDER Privacy Notice
Version: 6 October 2026
The short version
TRYHARDER analyses FACEIT matches to help players prepare. TRYHARDER uses player IDs, nicknames and gameplay to provide scouts, save positions and test and improve those features.
This includes players who do not use TRYHARDER. You can object by e-mailing info@tryharder.gg. You do not need an account.
TRYHARDER does not sell personal data or use it to target advertising.
This notice covers tryharder.gg, the browser extension (the “Extension”), companion app (the “App”) and development of the scouting features. The controller is Tryharder.gg, Singel 256, 1016 AB Amsterdam, info@tryharder.gg (“we”).
When you use TRYHARDER
| Information | What we use it for | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| FACEIT ID, nickname, profile photo and sign-in details | Your account and access | Our agreement with you |
| Invite, access dates, weekly allowance, rooms, maps, scouts, saved positions and notifications | Provide the beta and its features | Our agreement with you; other players' data is explained below |
| Usage, download counts, technical logs and error reports | Apply limits, control costs, prevent abuse and fix faults | Legitimate interests in running and securing TRYHARDER |
| Feedback and technical context | Answer feedback and improve the features | Legitimate interests in improving TRYHARDER |
FACEIT sign-in gives us no FACEIT password or e-mail address. Account and room information is needed for the relevant features.
We can review account-level usage and feedback. Technical records can include IP addresses and request, room and scout references.
Teammates using TRYHARDER on your side in the room see your saved positions with your nickname and can use them in scouts. Changes and deletions update the shared view; earlier history and separately saved copies can remain.
Feedback includes your account, message, App, browser and system versions and any room you attach. App error reports are optional; unexpected server errors can generate reports automatically.
The Beta Rules explain invites, 30-day access and weekly scouts. We record party sizes and your answer when asking whether to scout a room of randoms.
On your device
The Extension reads FACEIT room information, including players, ELO, map votes and Accept/Connect controls, and sends room and scouting information to TRYHARDER. Its account-detection fallback reads browser-storage entry names on FACEIT, which can reveal earlier accounts used there, but not their values.
AUTO ACCEPT and COPY IP are optional and off by default. COPY IP writes the server connection line, including a password if supplied, to your clipboard. It does not read your clipboard.
The App and Extension store sign-in, settings and room state on your device. Signing out clears personal app state and sign-in; preferences and caches can remain. Sessions expire after 7 days without use in the Extension and 30 days in the App.
Notifications are optional. The delivery service receives an encrypted message and can see the delivery endpoint, size and time.
Website, e-mail and beta requests
Netlify hosts tryharder.gg. Its logs include IP addresses and browser information for site delivery and security, based on legitimate interests. The website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
When you request beta access through the website form, we collect your e-mail address and FACEIT profile URL. We use them to review your request, contact you about beta access and manage invitations. Netlify Forms receives and stores these submissions for us. The retention period for e-mail and beta requests below also applies to form submissions.
We use e-mails to handle and follow up requests, based on legitimate interests; privacy requests also involve legal obligations. Beta requests, by e-mail or through the website form, are steps towards joining the service. Older beta-list entries use consent, which you can withdraw by e-mail.
Players who do not use TRYHARDER
Scouts summarise opponents' earlier gameplay. We analyse historical matches, including all players in them, to generate and test scouts. Your data can be included even if you have never used TRYHARDER or played against a user.
We obtain FACEIT and Steam IDs, nicknames and in-game names, teams, matches, maps, level, ELO and gameplay from FACEIT match information and recordings. Gameplay includes positions, kills, damage, shots, equipment and grenades. We derive statistics and tendencies. Development also uses FACEIT Premium Insights, which is not part of the user release.
Our legitimate interests are match preparation, reuse of analysis, map and level comparisons, and testing and improving scout accuracy. Users receive scouts for their own rooms, not raw recordings. Scouts do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on players.
Recordings and results also help reproduce problems and test features. Raw recordings can contain chat or voice; scout calculations leave these out. Development tools may receive relevant examples, with player identifiers removed or replaced where reasonably possible, or retained where needed for the task.
Your right to object
E-mail info@tryharder.gg with your FACEIT profile and the circumstances behind your objection. We assess the request and explain the outcome. We may continue only if we have compelling overriding grounds or grounds relating to legal claims.
If we uphold your objection, we exclude you from the affected scouting and scout-development uses. We delete or de-identify linked data where reasonably possible, unless we have a lawful reason to retain it. This does not limit your statutory erasure rights. We may retain minimal player IDs, nickname and a request reference to respect the exclusion.
How long we keep data
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and access records | Until deletion. An account with beta access is also deleted once access ended at least 90 days ago and no session has been used for at least 90 days. |
| Sign-in and session records | Sign-in exchanges are temporary. Session records remain during use and for 30 days after expiry or revocation. |
| Invite-code records | 14 days from creation. |
| Scout requests and room records | 30 days; finished jobs: 30 days from completion. |
| Saved positions and card history | Positions: 90 days from the room's first position; history snapshots: 90 days each. |
| Weekly scouts / monthly download totals | 396 days from scout start / the current month and preceding 12 months. |
| Request-limit records / feedback | 7 days / 182 days from receipt. |
| Error reports / service and host logs | 30 days / 14 days. |
| Historical match data and derived scouting data used to serve scouts | Up to 24 months from the match date, or less if no longer relevant. |
| Match-linked download and cancellation records | Until downloads are reconciled and relevant operational investigations are resolved. |
| Selected scout-development recordings, datasets and test examples | While needed to validate supported features or reproduce a specific problem; then deleted or anonymised. This can exceed the serving period above. |
| E-mail and beta requests | While handling the request, then up to 24 months after the last substantive contact. Consent-based beta lists end when consent is withdrawn or the relevant recruitment ends. |
| Website logs | Under Netlify's retention arrangements for delivery, troubleshooting, security and legal requirements: logging documentation and privacy policy. |
Account deletion removes account-linked positions, feedback and usage records. Independently held gameplay, teammates' copies and reports without an account reference follow their separate rules.
Routine service backups rotate within 28 days. We retain records needed to reapply account changes and privacy requests for 35 days, plus backup rotation. Exclusion records remain while needed to respect an objection. Information needed for a legal obligation or claim may be retained for that purpose.
Provider-held copies follow the service's retention and deletion arrangements, including security and legal retention. Ask us for details.
